DHL is the world’s leading logistics company, and employs over 380,000 people in over 220 countries and territories. Canon is Japanese multinational corporation specialising in the manufacture of imaging and optical products, which reported net sales of ¥3.95 trillion in 2018.
DHL won the contract to manage Canon’s UK logistics operations, including warehouse management and distribution. The company installed a mezzanine floor at its a distribution centre to increase warehousing space. Transdek was specified to fit a mezzanine goods lift to move Canon photocopiers to/from the secondary storage area.
Transdek developed and fitted a mezzanine lift customised to carry three Canon photocopiers at a time. The lift shaft was mounted directly to the warehouse floor and bolted to the mezzanine balcony, minimising install time and disruption at the busy site. A shortened, 500mm lead-on ramp was fitted to keep the overall lift footprint as compact as possible.
“We chose Transdek because they were able to provide us with the exact product that we needed at a competitive price. Their 1.5-day install time was also a deciding factor, so that we would not lose productivity at the busy DC. They delivered everything as promised, and we’ve been very happy with the reliability of the finished product.”
