Answering your Frequently asked Questions about Goods Lifts

Mezzanine goods lifts products

Q: What is a goods lift?

A: Designed to facilitate the movement of products between floor levels. Often you will find a goods lift in self storage units, warehouses, retail outlets and factories.

Q: Why should I invest in a goods lift?

A: A goods lift provides safe and reliable access to secondary storage areas, eliminating the need for manual handing of products and/or fork lift truck activity as an alternative. In turn, this reduces the risk of injuries, accidents and product damage. Designed to carry a range of loads from roll cages, pallets to bulky or loose items and can be operated easily by a single person.

Q: How do I know what Goods Lift to choose?

A: Our team of experts will work with you from initial enquiry through to site survey and design to ensure the correct lift specification is supplied to suit your operation.

Q: I need help specifying my Goods Lift, what are my options?

A: Speak to one of our team through our online enquiry form or by telephone. We aim to respond to all enquiries within one working day.

Installation of your goods lift

Q: What information do you need from me to specify a Goods Lift?

A: It’s always helpful to know the finished floor height, weight and type of products to be carried, the daily or hourly usage of the lift and the space available on all floor levels. It’s not essential but drawings and photos of the lift location are extremely useful.

Q: How long does it take for a goods lift to be installed?

A: Each of our goods lifts can be installed directly onto your warehouse, factory or shop floor in just 1.5 days.

Q: Does the goods lifts require a pit?

A: With Transdek’s unique surface mounted design, no pits are required. However, we can install our goods lifts into pit should you specify one.

Q: Where does my goods lift need to be installed?

A: Because of their free-standing structure, we can install our mezzanine goods lifts either through a hole in your mezzanine floor or up against the edge of the floor. Our goods lifts are most commonly installed inside a building but we can manufacture them for external locations with the use of cladding.

Q: Will there be any disruption when installing a mezzanine goods lift?

A: We will install your goods lift directly onto your warehouse, factory or shop floor. Within just 1.5 days you will have an operating goods lift. Our trained installers work to the highest standards, ensuring minimum disruption to your daily operations.

Operating a goods lift

Q: How do the goods lifts work?

A: A Hydraulic system raises or lowers the platform depending upon the direction of travel.

Q: Can I travel inside a goods lift?

A: Our goods lifts are designed to carry products only. Personnel cannot travel in the lift.

Q: How do I control my goods lift?

A: You will find the operating controls of your goods lift on the ground floor and mezzanine level(s). Our standard controls are positive-pressure but automatic dispatch and receive can be requested as an optional extra.
