Transdek Dock Lifts Transform Goods Handling at Storage Works

Hörmann Transdek have released a new video highlighting the operational benefits their Dock Lifts bring to the self storage industry. Filmed at a recent installation for Storage Works in Birmingham, the video demonstrates how a standard dock lift can be seamlessly integrated within a loading bay to enhance goods handling at storage facilities.

The new dock lift provides Storage Works with a safe and efficient way to transfer customers’ belongings from ground level up to the raised storage floors. By making it quicker and safer to move goods into units, the lift not only improves day-to-day site operations but also creates a smoother customer experience.

Having already partnered with Hörmann Transdek for the installation of multiple mezzanine goods lifts across their estate, Storage Works again turned to the company for their proven expertise, innovative solutions, and reliable installation service.

Marcus Cotterill, Site Manager at Storage Works, commented:

“The new lift has been a game-changer for our business. Its ease of use and the added safety it offers when transporting goods to the first-floor level are exceptional. It has helped to streamline our operations, boosted efficiency, and noticeably increased our business. Looking back, it is hard to imagine how we managed without it.”

Hörmann Transdek dock lifts are purpose-designed to support self storage operators by providing flexible, space-saving loading solutions. Installed either internally or externally, the modular, surface-mounted ‘plug-and-play’ units require no pits or civil works and can be fitted in as little as one day – making them ideal for facilities that want to minimise disruption while upgrading their operations.

All dock lifts are CE-marked and conform to EN1570 and the Machinery Directive, ensuring safe and robust operation. Safety is built into every unit, with features including an under-platform safety curtain, light beam safety zone, fall-prevention bar, and emergency stop controls.

With a lifting range of up to 1590mm and capacity for 2–6 pallets or loads up to four tonnes, the lifts can be tailored to the varied demands of storage centres. Available with mesh sides or fully clad exteriors for external installations, they can also be moved or relocated to meet changing business needs.
